I knitted up some slipper socks for spouse and a friend from Bendigo Woollen Mills' "bloom", 8ply or DK 100% wool in slow colour change. Wool was held double and the
colour changes in each ball provided an interesting effect - I think
"unique" describes these, lol.

Spouse (bottom photograph) wore his newly-completed slippers into operating theatre during a recent hospital stay, where they were apparently admired by most of the staff. lol.
